Cleansing the Liver and the Bile Ducts

Cleansing the Liver Bile Ducts is one of the most powerful procedures that you can do to improve your body’s health.  Cleansing the liver of gallstones dramatically improves digestion which is one of the foundational pieces for your entire health.  Regular cleansing of the gallbladder (every six months) will prevent many health problems including:

  • Pain
  • Poor digestion
  • High cholesterol
  • Brain dysfunction
  • Hypertension
  • Allergies
  • Infections in other parts of the body

While flushing the gallbladder, it is critical to consume chlorella (see product page) to assist detoxification and follow the gallbladder flush within 24 hours with a colonic to fully cleanse the colon/large intestine.

Your Wonderful Powerful Liver

It is the job of the liver to make over 1 quart of bile a day.  The liver is full of tubes (biliary tubing) that deliver the bile to one large tube called the common bile duct.  The gallbladder is attached to the common bile duct and acts as a storage reservoir for bile from the liver to assist fat digestion.  Eating fat or protein triggers the gallbladder to squeeze itself empty about twenty minutes after beginning to eat. The stored bile finishes its trip down the common bile duct emptying into the small intestine.  For many people, including children, the biliary tubing is congested with gallstones.  This congestion begins the process that results in many health problems.

What Are Gallstones?

Some people with gallstones, and congested bile ducts, develop allergies or hives, however many have no symptoms.  When the gallbladder is scanned or X-rayed many times nothing is seen.  Typically, those stones are not in the gallbladder.  Not only that but most are too small and not calcified, a prerequisite for visibility on X-ray.  Even if your gallbladder has been removed, you can still get gallstones depositing in and around the liver.

There are over a half dozen varieties of gallstones, most of which contain cholesterol crystals.  Gallstones can be black, red, white, green or tanned colored.  At the very center of each stone is a clump of bacteria.  According to scientists, this suggests that dead parasites might have initiated the stone to form.

As the stones grow and become more numerous, the back pressure on the liver causes it to make more bile.  This could be likened to a garden hose filled with marbles, causing the flow of water to be reduced.  This would decrease the ability of the hose to squirt out the marbles just as the backed up bile duct builds pressure in the liver.

With the gallstones clogging the biliary tubing (bile ducts) much less cholesterol leaves the body.  This causes the cholesterol levels in the body to rise, resulting in high cholesterol readings.

Porous gallstones can pick up the bacterial cysts, viruses and parasites passing through the liver.  In this way, “nests” of infection are formed, continually supplying the body with fresh bacteria.  This is probably the root cause of all types of liver dysfunction.  These bacteria are known to flow to other organs especially the brain initiating the process of neurodegeneration.

Stomach infections such as ulcers and intestinal bloating cannot be cured permanently without removing the gallstones from the liver.

Caution:  Before beginning the liver cleanse, be certain that your kidneys and urinary tract are in top working condition so they can efficiently remove any undesirable substances absorbed from the intestines as the bile is being excreted.  Never do this cleanse when you are ill.

The Liver/Gallbladder Flush

There are multiple suggestions for Liver and Gallbladder Cleanses but here are some highlights from Dr Richard Schulze and Dr Hulda Clark:

Day 1: Upon arising drink 8-16 ounces of distilled water

This is a great way to start your day. The water rinses and flushes your digestive tract of any leftover food and digestive juices.

Within 1 hour prepare this morning flush drink:

  • 8 ounces of fresh orange juice or a citrus juice combination (1 lemon or 1 lime and enough orange, grapefruit or tangerine to make 8 ounces if doing this in the Spring/Summer

  • 8 ounces of fresh unfiltered apple juice if doing this in the Fall/Winter

Only use fresh organic (ideally, if possible) lemons or limes. NOT canned lemon or lime juice nor frozen juice or lemonade

Day 1: Breakfast
FRESH fruit juice is the best way to get your Vitamins, Minerals and other Essential Nutrients. They are also very important for cleansing and detoxification. If you are hungry before lunch time you may have fruit, diluted fruit juices, and fruit smoothies. Stop all fruit or fruit juices at least 1 hour before lunch. It is best while on this program not to mix fruit and vegetables together.

Herbal teas can also be added such as Barberry Bark, Dandelion Root, Licorice Root, Milk Thistle or Fenugreek tea.

Day 1: Lunch
For lunch you can have diluted fresh raw vegetable juices, raw vegetables alone or in salads, sprouts, potassium broth, and herb teas. Use 7 tsp of Olive Oil and 7 tsp of fresh Lemon juice as your salad dressing adding any Garlic, Onions or Herbs and Spices.
Afternoon Snacks: Raw vegetables, raw vegetable salads, diluted vegetable juices, sprouts, potassium broth and herb teas.

Day 1: Dinner
Steamed vegetables and herb teas.

Day 2, 3 and 4: Remain on the same program as Day 1. If you get hungry, simply drink more water, juices or tea.

Potassium Broth Recipe
This is a great-tasting addition to your cleansing program. It will flush your system of toxins, poisons and unwanted salts and acids while giving you a concentrated amount of vitamins and minerals. Potassium broth is also a Vegetable broth made with fresh organic vegetables. We do not want to consume any toxic insecticides, pesticides or inorganic chemical fertilizers while we are on a cleansing and detoxification program.

You will need a 5 quart stainless steel pot with a snug fitting lid. Fill with 3 quarts of distilled water.

Wash and dice vegetables, do not peel them.

  • 3 potatoes
  • 4 large carrots
  • 5-6 celery stalks
  • 1/2 bunch of greens (collard/spinach/mustard/kale or even a handful of each.)
  • 1/2 bunch of parsley
  • 1/2 bunch carrot or beet tops
  • 2 beets
  • 3 zucchini squash
  • String beans are also another great vegetable source to use

Boil water, place cut vegetables into the pot let boil again then put on simmer for 1-1.5 hours. Until the vegetables have lost all color. Strain and throw away pulp (vegetables) retain only the liquid.

Drink 2-3 cups daily.

You can change the quantity and types of vegetables in each batch, be creative.

Consistently, use dark green leafy vegetables and potatoes to ensure you are getting potassium, otherwise create your own broth and experiment. You can use onions and garlic as well for additional taste.

The broth is a nutrient dense meal replacement on almost any cleanse.

Day 5: Flush
Today is the day you continue with the same plan as Day 1-4 however you end your day with 2-4 ounces of olive oil (depending on how much you can tolerate) and 2-4 ounces of lemon juice before going to bed.
You can also follow that with a tea, if desired using Pau d’Arco (Red Lapacho Tree – bark) also known as, Ipe Roxa and Taheebo. Pau d’Arco has powerful healing effects on the liver and immune system.

The next morning, get a colonic but if it is not possible, then take a natural laxative such as 4-6 ounces of Aloe Vera juice is necessary to cleanse the bowel. Be sure to stay home for this process. You will be amazed at the results.

Remember, this program restricts the types of food you will be eating, not the amount. If you are hungry at any point during this detoxification program, drink and/or eat more. The more you eat and drink, the more you will flush the toxins out of your body. Your positive, healing attitude is most important to achieve maximum benefits out of this program; be loving to yourself. Take it easy when returning to a new healthy food program. Choose lighter foods for a few days and be careful not to overeat. Chew your food well. Eating smaller meals more often is better than one or two large meals. Enjoy your new set of values on food choices and amounts. Also may refer to: Liver/Gallbladder flush in the health tables at
